    LEVI STRAUSS & Co. (San Francisco) -- Pete Jacobi, 49 years old,
 was named president of Levi Strauss International, a subsidiary of
 the apparel manufacturer that accounts for more than half the
 company's earnings.  Mr. Jacobi was president of the company's Global
 Sourcing unit, which develops guidelines and standards for
 international contractors.  He succeeds Lee Smith, 50, who left the
 company last year to work in AIDS advocacy.
