Business Bulletin: A Special Background Report On Trends in Industry And Finance ---- By Pamela Sebastin [19 lines irrelevant to AIDS omitted. -- sysop] HIV AND POSITIVE on life is the theme of a magazine in the planning stages. Sean Strub, head of Strub Media Group, a database marketer in New York focusing on the gay sector, proposes publishing a broad lifestyle magazine for all HIV-positive people, not just gays. With a working name of LifePlus, the glossy publication would spotlight profiles of successful people with the virus and articles such as how to pick a doctor or when to tell a date you are HIV-positive, says Mr. Strub, who has been HIV-positive for several years. Is there a market for such a magazine? Susan Diamond, a Dallas internist with many HIV patients, thinks so. She notes patients are living longer and better: "My patients are staying at work very close to the end. They're traveling; they're skiing." While new drugs get top credit, attitude is key, says Dr. Diamond. Initially, the magazine would be quarterly, distributed through AIDS groups and medical offices. Target advertisers: living benefits insurance firms.
