Prudential Securities biotechnology analyst Joseph Edelman said fears of a decline in sales growth of Amgen's flagship product have been overblown. He said the potential for the company's products under development has been underestimated. He reiterated his "buy" recommendation and designated the stock his "single best idea" in the biotech group. Mr. Edelman said the long-term growth of Neupogen is ensured as the drug moves beyond its current chemotherapy uses into treatment of infectious diseases, such as AIDS and pneumonia.
