Germany Clears Vestar Drug SAN DIMAS, Calif. -- Vestar Inc. said German regulatory authorities approved the commercial sale of the company's antifungal drug AmBisome in that nation. The pharmaceutical concern said that commercial sale of AmBisome will begin immediately in Germany, "the largest pharmaceutical market in Europe." The approval is a "significant milestone in our strategic marketing" of AmBisome. The news pushed up the price of Vestar's stock, which finished at $12.25 a share, up $1.25, in national over-the-counter trading. AmBisome, a treatment for cancer as well as for AIDS and other conditions related to damaged immune systems, has full marketing approval in the United Kingdom, Sweden and Ireland, Vestar said.
