    NEW YORK -- Renewed caution after two sessions of sharp
 gains left over-the-counter stocks with a modest advance.

    Gilead Sciences gained 1/2 to 14 1/2.  It began Phase I
 clinical trials of its GS 504 drug.  The substance is designed
 to be used in treating CMV Retinitis, a disease that causes
 blindness in some AIDS patients.
