CARRINGTON LABORATORIES Inc. (Houston) -- Clinton H. Howard, the largest shareholder, resigned from its board to pursue other business interests. Mr. Howard, 63 years old, who founded Carrington and promoted the use of its experimental aloe-vera based drug as a treatment for AIDS, resigned as president and chief executive officer in October 1990. He has since reduced his stake in the company to about 12% from about 30%. The Irving, Texas, company, which gets its revenue from its wound-care business and is still testing the drug, called acemannan, said it doesn't plan to replace Mr. Howard on the board, leaving the board with seven directors.
