Subject: Carrington To Make More Acemannan For AIDS Date: Published: 4/14/92 (30 lines) Source: Wall Street Journal. Copyright Dow Jones & Co. Inc. Financing Business: Carrington Laboratories Inc. CARRINGTON LABORATORIES Inc. said it registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission to offer one million common shares and three million shares of a new research concern, Carntech Inc. Carrington, an Irving, Texas, maker of wound and skin-care products, said the Carntech offering will be of units, with each unit including one Carntech common share and one warrant to buy a share of Carrington. The warrants will be exercisable between 1994 and 1997. Carrington said that Carntech is being created to speed development of products using acemannan, a derivative of the aloe vera plant, for the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease and cancer; proceeds from the Carntech offering will be used for that research. Carrington said it will use proceeds from its stock offering for expansion of its acemannan-manufacturing capacity, expansion of its wound and skin care business, to further its research into the use of acemannan in treating AIDS and for general corporate purposes. Currently, Carrington has about 6.7 million shares outstanding.
