    Epitope Gets FDA Request

    BEAVERTON, Ore.  -- Epitope Inc. said the Food and Drug
 Administration has requested "clarification and
 amplification" of information the company submitted for
 approval of a new product for use in detecting antibodies to
 the AIDS virus.
    Epitope, a biotechnology concern, made the announcement
 after the close of the market.  In May, the company filed an
 application, seeking permission to market a device called
 OraSure.  The company said it had expected the FDA request for
 additional information, and is "confident that all issues
 raised by the FDA will be resolved satisfactorily."
