News developments sent the shares of individual companies flying in disparate directions. Traders said investors were quick to join the momentum-both on the buy and sell side. [48 lines irrelevant to AIDS removed. --sysop] Repligen, which had soared over the past several sessions, including a 5 1/4-point jump Tuesday, fell yesterday after its disclosure that it will reacquire from Merck the rights to certain monoclonal antibodies being developed as an AIDS anti-infective. Repligen said it is still in an AIDS vaccine development effort with Merck. MedImmune's gain came on its disclosure that it agreed with Merck to develop MedImmune's monoclonal antibodies in preventing the disease.
