OTC Focus: Stocks Lose Early Gains, Finish Mixed; Softness on Big Board and in Bonds Cited ---- By Dave Pettit Staff Reporter of the Wall Street Journal NEW YORK -- Nervous investors knocked over-the-counter stocks off their early highs, leaving the market mixed at the close. [36 lines irrelevant to AIDS removed. --sysop] Among these issues, Repligen yesterday leapt 5 1/4 to 29 on heavy volume of 2.6 million shares, after gaining 2 3/4 Monday. Another is Anergen, which soared 7 1/4 to 27 1/2 on 1.7 million shares, after rising 4 1/4 a day earlier. Anergen has more than tripled in price since its Oct. 10 initial public offering, which was made at $8 a share. Repligen has attributed its recent gains to the results from tests conducted along with New York Stock Exchange-listed Merck on the use of monoclonal antibodies in treating AIDS. After the market closed yesterday, Repligen said it will reacquire from Merck the rights to certain AIDS compounds.
