    Researchers implicated a cousin of the AIDS virus in
 auto-immune diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis and lupus,
 in which the body's disease-fighting system goes awry and
 attacks itself.  The scientists said the findings, which are
 still tentative, could lead to the discovery of diagnostic
 tests and ultimately treatments for these diseases.
