Jobs For Total of $3.4 Million WORCESTER, Mass. -- Transgenic Sciences Inc. said it was awarded two federal contracts totaling $3.4 million to conduct carcinogenicity and toxicology testing. Transgenic Sciences said the contracts, from the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, will contribute to its revenues over the next three years. For the year ended July 1, Transgenic posted a loss of $1 million, or 17 cents a share, on revenue of $6.9 million. For 1989, the company reported a loss of $1.2 million, or 40 cents a share, on revenue of $105,000. Separately, Transgenic Sciences received two agreements from the National Cancer Institute allowing the company to compete for AIDS vaccine-related research funded by the cancer institute. Transgenic Sciences said the agreements may provide new avenues for revenue growth.
