Technology Brief -- Repligen Corp.: Pact Is Signed With Sandoz To Study AIDS Compounds Repligen Corp., Cambridge, Mass., and Sandoz Ltd., Basel, Switzerland, signed a two-year research and development agreement to develop therapeutic compounds effective against the HIV virus that causes AIDS. Under the agreement, which may be extended, Sandoz, a chemical and pharmaceutical concern, will provide funding to Repligen, a biotechnology concern, for development of certain HIV proteins that will inhibit replication of the acquired immune deficiency syndrome virus. Repligen said payments will be made by Sandoz when specific predetermined scientific and clinical goals have been achieved. Sandoz will retain manufacturing and marketing rights to products developed through the collaboration and Repligen will receive royalties on product sales, Repligen said.
