Technology Brief -- Carrington Laboratories Inc.: FDA Approval Is Received To Test Drug on Humans Carrington Laboratories Inc. said it received Food and Drug Administration approval to begin testing the toxicity of its Carrisyn drug on humans. Carrington said it will give several different dosage levels of Carrisyn to 24 healthy patients in an eight-week test and expects a final report in four months. The Dallas pharmaceutical concern has said it believes Carrisyn, which is developed from an aloe vera plant extract, could be effective in treating acquired immune deficiency syndrome and other viral diseases by stimulating the immune system. As previously reported, the company currently is testing the drug on patients with AIDS in Belgium.
