British Team to Test Possible AIDS Vaccine Of Viral Technologies WASHINGTON -- Viral Technologies Inc. said a British research team received regulatory approval to start clinical trials of the company's potential AIDS vaccine. The company said it expects that the initial trial, meant primarily to test whether the product is safe, should begin this summer at St. Stephen's Hospital, London, and ultimately involve 24 volunteers. At present, the company said, the research team has approval to do trials in people who have been infected with the AIDS virus but haven't yet shown any symptoms of AIDS. The researchers will seek approval also to test people who haven't been infected. Viral Technologies is a joint venture of CEL-SCI Corp., Alexandria, Va., and Alpha 1 Biomedicals Inc., Washington.
