    Tokyo share prices rose nearly 1.3% to a record close in
 heavy trading.

    Rancoo, which has interests in research on acquired immune
 deficiency syndrome, moved up 0.05 to 2.50 after strong gains
 in recent days.  The company released an optimistic statement
 about an AIDS vaccine technology in which it has a 50%
 interest, and its trading was suspended pending a company
 news conference today.
