Bio-Rad Seeks Clearance For an AIDS Blood Test RICHMOND, Calif. -- Bio-Rad Laboratories Inc. said it filed an application with the Food and Drug Administration for approval of a new blood-screening test. The test is designed to detect differences between people who will develop acquired immune deficiency syndrome, or AIDS, and those who have been exposed to the virus but remain healthy. The company said its test is being evaluated in cooperation with the National Institutes of Health, in a study of people at high risk for the disease.
