   Genetic Systems Sets Financing

   SEATTLE -- Genetic Systems Corp. said it completed
financing of a $17 million research and development limited
partnership to develop diagnostic products.
   The company said the products include one to detect
acquired immune deficiency syndrome, or AIDS, and a new
diagnostic instrument system under joint development with
Applied Biosystems Inc. of Foster City, Calif.  Genetic
Systems develops and markets immunological products for
disease diagnosis and treatment.
   Investment bankers for the limited partnership include
Morgan Stanley & Co., Alex.  Brown & Sons Inc., and Allen &
Co.
