Revlon Gets FDA Clearance For New Drug, Factorate NEW YORK -- Revlon Inc. said it received Food and Drug Administration clearance to sell its new drug, heat-treated Factorate, for bleeding associated with hemophilia A. Factorate concentrates are derived from human plasma and manufactured by a Revlon subsidiary, Armour Pharmaceutical Co., Tarrytown, N. Y. Revlon said it plans to begin selling Factorate within the next several weeks. Revlon said the heat-treated Factorate is intended to reduce the possibility of the transmission of viruses, including hepatitis and acquired immune deficiency syndrome, or AIDS, a risk frequently encountered with coagulation drugs.
